VoiBridge case study
TOPEX VoiBridge is a GSM/UMTS small capacity gateway with VoIP or PRI interfaces. Its main functionality is to interconnect VoIP or PSTN networks with mobile networks. With TOPEX VoiBridge you make significant savings on calls from IP or PSTN to cellular networks and backwards.
TOPEX VoiBridge can connect any type of IP PBX and legacy PBX to the cellular network – achieving cost reduction and avoiding roaming costs for international calls.
The equipment can be implemented in several types of solutions such as road transport companies with several branches distributed in many countries. This situation was encountered for one of the leading transport companies in Europe where TOPEX VoiBridge represented an appropriate solution.
Initial situation:
Devoted to the “just-in-time” motto, the transport company activity requires accurate fleet monitoring and constant communication between offices and between fleet and offices, as well.
The initial request from the customer was for a small size VoIP-to-GSM gateway, that had to manage about 500 calls per day in “callback” manner, in order cut down the costs for office to driver communication and vice-versa.
The requirement was for the gateway to fit into the scenario, where the central IP-PBX was situated in the Ireland office premises and the gateway was to be installed in the UK office(due to better prices for national and international calls offered by UK operators.) The connection between the company IP-PBX and the TOPEX gateway had to be via IP.
The solution:
Able to support SIP trunking, TOPEX VoiBridge supports the connection to the IPPBX in Ireland, allowing local PBX users in the Ireland office to use the UK mobiles to get in touch with the fleet.
At the same time, the use of the callback service, for allowing the fleet to get in touch with the office in Ireland. The callback tables' dimension is only limited by the systems' memory. It currently has about 500 entries.
An user who wants to call on the company call center in Ireland will dial the VoiBridge mobile UK number – and the call will be routed through SIP trunks over the IP Network to the company call center. The call will be charged only as a local call avoiding the expensive charges of roaming.
