TOPEX Proposes Prepaid Calling Cards
Prepaid calling cards refer to voice services paid in advance. The voice provider allows the prepaid subscribers to place local, long-distance or international calls using credit paid in advance.
How does the user interact with the system?
In this model the user buys a plastic card - named calling card that contains the PIN code used by the user to authenticate with the service provider. Using media gateways the prepaid users can be analog telephony users or they can be directly IP users.
How does the system interact with the user?
The analog or the IP subscribers place a phone call to the prepaid application number. This is a destined E164 number. When the call is answered the IVR of Topex multiSwitch, the prepaid user is prompted to enter the PIN code. Topex multiSwitch checks the validity of the code and after that it can play the credit value of the prepaid subscriber.
After the prepaid user is informed about his credit value he receives a dial tone. The user dials the desired called number. At this moment Topex multiSwitch can be configured to play to the user the maximum amount of time he can talk to the dialled destination. At the end of the call the prepaid subscriber can press the "#" and make another call without the need of re-authentication.
What does the system mean for the service provider?
The service provider uses a flexible call charging system, a very important aspect for this kind of business where the borders are very close. The service provider can create a "multi users" architecture through a resellers network. At their turn, the resellers have their distributors who sell the cards.
