Richtfest, in Residenz
Friday, on the 27th of July, Residenz was for a few hours, the meeting place for all those involved in the development of this residential project: the staff of Tiriac Imobiliare and of LBBW Immobilien GmbH - the German partner - the workers on the construction site, and also, journalists and local authorities.
The pretext of the meeting was the topping-out of the first 12 buildings of Residenz, a reason to celebrate this moment, just like in Germany. Following the German tradition, the two companies' officials , together with the general entrepreneur Heberger, placed a fir-tree wreath rimmed with ribbons on top of one of the buildings. After short speeches, everybody was invited at a festive lunch along with the workers, to show the appreciation for those who worked hard on the site.
This tradition is called „Richtfest” in Germany or „Topping Out” in English speaking countries, and is found in all countries across Europe. We also have the same tradition in Romania, especially in the rural area: on the roof of the house under construction, the workers place a fir- tree branch, to transfer the perenity of the tree to the house.
Just as alpinists proudly hoist the flag of their country when they reach the highest peaks, the workers in Residenz were thrilled with emotion when the fir-tree wreath was placed on top of the roof.
